Supreme Court Weighs Trump's Claims of Immunity

Justices Signal Support for Rejecting Trump's Arguments

WASHINGTON, April 25 (Reuters) - The Supreme Court's conservative justices signaled support on Thursday for rejecting former President Donald Trump's claims of sweeping immunity and the broad protections he has sought for himself.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday took up Donald Trump's bid to avoid prosecution over his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss.

If the Supreme Court rules that Donald J. Trump is immune from being charged with crimes over official actions he took as president, it will be a major victory for the former president.

For nearly three hours on Thursday, the Supreme Court weighed whether former presidents are immune from prosecution and what exactly it means if they are.
